Summary: SSL Certificate updated for CaSIL web site
Project: Site Admin
The SSL certificate to the CaSIL web site has been updated recently,
which affects access to all SSL protected areas of the site, including
https://casil.ucdavis.edu.
For those users who permanently saved the CaSIL SSL certificate to
their web browser, and who are not able to access the SSL portions of
the web site, because the new certificate does not match the one
stored in their local web browsers, the stored certificates need to be
removed in their web browsers.
These are the steps that need to be performed for the respective
browsers.
* For Internet Explorer:
1. Click on the Tools menu, then click "Internet Options..."
2. Click on the Content tab on the top of the dialog box, then click
on the "Certificates..." button.
3. In the various tabs, search for certificates resembling one of the
following:
casil.ucdavis.edu
CaSIL
University of California, Davis
4. If a certificate appears that matches any of the above names, you
will need to remove it; this is done by clicking on the certificate
to select it, then clicking on the "Remove" button to remove the
certificate. Once this is done, close and reopen the browser.
Now, when you access https://casil.ucdavis.edu/ again, it should
prompt you whether you wish to proceed with the new certificate;
clicking yes allows you to enter the site.
* For Mozilla Firefox:
1. Click on the Tools menu, then click "Options..."
2. Click on the "Advanced" button in the column of five buttons on the
left hand side, then scroll down to the Certificates section
(expand the section by clicking on the plus arrow if necessary).
3. Click on the "Manage Certificates..." button, which brings up the
Certificate Manager.
4. In the various tabs, search for certificates resembling one of the
following:
casil.ucdavis.edu
CaSIL
University of California, Davis
5. If a certificate appears that matches any of the above names, you
will need to remove it; this is done by clicking on the certificate
to select it, then clicking on the "Delete" button to remove the
certificate. Once this is done, close and reopen the browser.
Now, when you access https://casil.ucdavis.edu/ again, it should
prompt you as to whether you wish to proceed with the new certificate;
with the option "Accept this certificate temporarily for this
session", click on the OK button to enter the site.
* For Mozilla:
1. Click on the Edit menu, then click "Preferences..."
2. Expand the Privacy and Security section (expand the section by
clicking on the plus arrow if necessary). Click on the
"Certificates" item in that section.
Now, when you access https://casil.ucdavis.edu/ again, it should
prompt you as to whether you wish to proceed with the new
certificate; with the option "Accept this certificate temporarily
for this session", click on the OK button to enter the site.
